Boots Oil-Absorbing Sheets Review

Excuse the lighting in this photo. Bad weather and the main light in the living room going out didn't help the situation.
This review would probably sound a lot more appealing if Boots had simply used the term "Blotting Papers" but kudos for saying it like it is. Many people will have used blotting papers with varying levels of success. Most of the time I found them to be tiny sheets of paper that smeared my makeup leaving a white powdery cast on my face. Which is why most people still use powder and brush to touch up, however, this past summer Boots Oil-Absorbing Sheets have become my handbag staple.

The purpose of the sheets is to remove excess oil, eliminating shine, and providing a matte complexion all without smudging any makeup you may be wearing at the time and boy do these sheets deliver! Any excess oil is absorbed quickly with no residue or white mask left behind, crucially any make up I was wearing at the time remained intact so no need for touch-ups afterward. Probably the best thing about them is that the sheets are impregnated with salicylic acid to help prevent breakouts and I've not noticed any excess dryness on my skin after using the sheets.

The sheets themselves have a light peachy colour to them but as individuals are a soft white and to use one you simply rip them out of the packaging. What I like specifically about these sheets is that they are larger than other brands I have used in the past. Past papers tended to be on the small side meaning you had to use multiple sheets to have any effect. At a whopping 3"x 2" (80mm x 55mm) in size, I find I can use one sheet and go.

In terms of packaging, the sheets are contained in a simple reinforced cardboard case no larger than a credit card. The sides are left open and to access the sheets you simply slide the tab out of its slot. Packaging style is basic blue and white providing all the product information on the outside. Word of advice keep these sheets stored away in a pocket in your bag or makeup pouch and not rolling around loose. My first pack met a sorry state when a pint was spilled over my open handbag on a night out.

Boots Oil-Absorbing Sheets would be a perfect addition to any gym bag, office desk and with the festive seasons around the corner your bag for all the Christmas shindigs. You can find Boots Oil-Absorbing Sheets beside Boots own cleansing brands in stores or you can purchase the items here.

Mish | Dove StyleCare Dry Shampoo Review

I first heard about Dove StyleCare Dry Shampoo whilst reading some magazine and was intrigued. Honestly I do not like Dove products; or to be more precise the smell. The strong odour of soap that you can smell a mile off, actually churns my stomach! So I was a little apprehensive when I decided to purchase a can, surely it couldn't be as bad as I remember?

I'm very particular about Dry Shampoo. I don't want to turn grey and just want my greasy roots mopped up. Price is also a problem; some are extortionate (side eye Bumble Bumble).  Frankly I don't believe dry shampoos should cost more than £2.50, but a girl can dream eh? In the end I always come crawling back to Batiste, but hate how it makes hair dull. The brunette version looks tempting but I refuse to pay £3 extra just because I'm a brunette. It really bugs me when companies pull this stunt. (I'm coming across as a right miser on posts recently, I assure I'm not)

Must say the packaging is lovely and clean.

Well what to say, I kinda love this stuff. I applied it on three day old hair with rather greasy roots and it cleaned up nicely. With my reviewing cap on I glowered as I noticed a white dust forming on my hair, then realised I was holding the can about 5 cm away from my scalp. Oops! Once rectified, the spray is translucent and can be rubbed in straight away, no waiting, then brush it through. Hair becomes soft, not crispy or grey. I have sensitive skin and am happy to report this does not cause me any reaction and my hair feels clean, light and not flaky.

Only issue, you guessed it; the scent. Oh it's mighty strong, and soapy. I always apply perfume to my hair and worry that it will mix badly with this scent. After on hour I can still smell it, this could be a deal breaker for me. If  Dove releases it without a scent then this could be my dream dry shampoo, until then I guess I'll have to try and stomach the smell.

If you are after a new dry shampoo and don't mind a very powerful scent, then I would highly recommend Dove StyleCare Dry Shampoo which is currently on offer at ASDA

So have you tried any new Dry Shampoos? Do you have a favourite? Who agrees we shouldn't pay more due to our hair colour? Let us know in the comments section we love hearing from you!

Mish | June Beauty Favourites Part 1

Cannot believe June is nearly over, this year is flying past. Here is a selection of beauty products I have enjoyed using this past month. Stay tuned for part 2 later on in the week.

I suffer from dry lips on and off and this stuff is the only thing that instantly soothes them and begins the healing process.  The menthol tingling on the lips makes it feel like the balm is doing its magic.  The packaging is also lovely; the bright yellow casing makes it easy to locate in my Mary Poppins handbag. Can understand why its a cult classic.

Primark Owl Tweezers

These were a recent gift from a friend as she knows how much I love Owls. Personally I never would buy tweezers from Primark but these are really good. They grip the hair well causing minimal pain, Primark you proved me wrong.  My normal tweezers are Tweezerman which I have a love/hate relationship with. I find they don’t grip my hair well enough and annoyingly leave some hair in the root. On other days, they work a treat, maybe it’s just me. Does anyone else have that issue?  I am away on holiday soon and I think the Primark Owls may bump the Tweezerman’s out the suitcase.

I suffer with psoriasis on my scalp. Anybody who suffers from it understands the pain, itchiness, and embarrassment of having a flaky scalp. I always use Neutrogena Coal Tar shampoo if I flare up, however I wanted to get a cleansing shampoo for the times I haven't flared up. I picked up TRESemme Vitamin C Deep Cleansing Shampoo and now use it once a week just to give my hair and scalp a good cleanse. My hair feels squeaky clean and it doesn't irritate my scalp, noticeably my after wash products apply easier as well. I’ve not had a psoriasis flare up this month so I couldn't say if it would completely clear the condition up on its own (I probably would revert back to Neutrogena) but I will come back with an answer should this occur. Other than that this is a real good shampoo for the days your hair feels bunged up with product. (ASDA always has the best deals on the 900ml TRESemme, you can normally buy a shampoo and conditioner for the price of one bottle, as these last a long time you normally find the same deal is on again when you need to repurchase :) )

A miracle worker. My nails have been a state this past year and nothing helped they constantly peeled and bent upwards.  Within two weeks my nails were strong and healthy. A friend has shellac nails and mine were stronger than hers which is saying something. I feel £18 is too expensive for this stuff as you need to apply regularly so I see the bottle being used up quickly, therefore I would suggest using store card points when purchasing Nail Envy.

So what have you been enjoying this month?  Is there anything you think Tori and I should be looking at. Leave your comments down below :)
